Awo' s legacies still enduring- Aare Gani Adams




Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Aare Gani Adams, yesterday, said the legacies of the late Obafemi Awolowo still endure for everybody to see.
Speaking at the 70th birthday anniversary and installation ceremony of Ambassador Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosunmu, in Ikenne- Remo, Ogun State, on Tuesday,Aare Adams,said more than 30 years after his demise, the achievements of the late sage still speak louder in the country, most especially, in the southwest, where he was the premier of the western region then.
"I bear testimony to the fact that the late Pa Obafemi Awolowo' s legacies still live on.From the calibre of prominent personalities in Nigeria and beyond that are present here today to honour one of his children, Dr. Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosunmu,It is evident that Awo' s dynasty is still intact and respected in the country".
Adams, however, charged Nigerian leaders to emulate the leadership qualities of the late sage, saying :"The only way we can sustain baba' s legendary and unrivalled achievements is to promote true federalism, preach peace and unity in the country.These are some of the ideals which I cherish most in life and even in all my struggles and of which the late chief Obafemi Awolowo is known for", he said
While congratulating Dr. Dosumu, Aare Adams said the former ambassador had paid her dues in the service of her fatherland and at 70, her exposures and wealth of experiences are noteworthy.
"My sister, Dr.Awolowo Dosumu is a very humble personality,who has been using the Obafemi Awolowo foundation ( OAF), to reflect the ideals of the late sage, by promoting good economic policies and standard education in the southwest states.
"I wish to appreciate God for the grace given to her to attain this age in life,and most especially, to serve humanity in her various endeavours.This is no mean feat." Adams said.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion, include, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and wife, Bola, Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Babatunde Ajayi,chief Emeka Anyaoku,Ogun state,deputy governor, Chief Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga,Pa Ayo Adabanjo,Former governors, Ondo, Olusegun Mimiko,Ogun Segun Osoba, Ekiti, Adeniyi Adebayo, Alake of Egbaland, Representatives of Ife monarch,Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Obi of Onitsha and pastor Tunde Bakare, Abba Folawiyo, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu,among others.
