Lagos lawmaker commends LASIEC on hitch-free LG election
The
lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of
Assembly, Hon. Olusola Sokunle, has expressed satisfaction over the way the
Saturday local government election in the state was conducted by the Lagos
State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
Sokunle,
who spoke to journalists shortly after he voted at his ward in the local
government, said that despite the weather condition the voters still came out
en masse to decide who they wanted as their council leaders, saying that such
resolve was an indication to the fact that many Lagosians appreciate the good
work of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
The
lawmaker opined that with the outcome of the local government election, it
showed that the people of the state are in "strong democratic tie"
with the APC government.
He
added that it would be difficult for any opposition party to wrestle power from
the Ambode-led government.
“Saturday's
voting behaviour by the electorate tells us that no opposition party can
wrestle power from APC in Lagos come 2019. It shows Lagosians appreciate
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s efforts in ensuring that the dividends of democracy
are felt by all Lagosians.”
He
assured Lagosians of the continuous delivery of dividends of democracy by
Governor Ambode, saying that the House of Assembly would continue to support
the governor through legislations that would encourage good governance in the
state.
Also speaking, the local government
chairman Mr Bolaji Muse-Ariyo appreciated the efforts of the voters in deciding
their leaders in a peaceful conduct.
He further assured the residents
more delivery of good governance at the grassroot.
